Fall Colorful Tree with Baby Wipe Technique

It is now officially fall and I sure wish turning a page on the calendar meant an automatic change in the weather.  I'm ready for it to feel like fall.  I'm ready to see trees changing color as I look out my window.  I'm ready for reds, oranges, browns with some green thrown in.  If I can't have it happening in nature right outside my door, I'll just have to settle for fall in my creative mind and the cards I'm making right now.

It's been awhile since I've used the baby wipe technique, but that seemed perfect to create fall colors of the FabFri challenge on my fall tree.  I'd also never tried using the baby wipe technique with the Stamparatus.  It worked out amazingly well.  I was able to ink up the tree trunk with a Soft Suede ink pad and then color the leaves with the baby wipe that I had inked up with the colors from FabFri172.    It also gives you the chance to re-ink and re-stamp your image if it needs more color.  The Stamparatus made the baby wipe technique even easier and allows you to add more color until it is the richness you desire.

Thankful for You

It's always a good thing when one card works for more than one challenge.  When it fits 3 (color, sketch, and theme), it's even better.  I used some of the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper for a couple of the paper strips, but created my own Terracotta Tile strip using cardstock and Terracotta Tile Ink with the pumpkins from the Gather Together stamp set. I think I can honestly say the wheat image from this stamp set is my current favorite stamp. Now, ask me again next week and it will probably be something different.  :)

I entered this card in three challenges.  Make sure you check them out to see the inspiration cards by the design teams and other creative entries.

Catching up on Rustic Retreat videos

Sorry I've been a little lax on my Online classes this summer.  This whole moving process has put things into a bit of a chaotic whirlwind.  Fortunately, I can see the end in sight and am pretty excited to have my own crafting space in about two weeks.  In the meantime, I will work with what I have a do my best to get videos caught up for you.

Card 1 features the majestic deer standing in a field surrounded by pumpkins from the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper.  I made this an appreciation card for someone who has walked by my side.

I originally made card 2 as a sympathy card with different sentiments from the Rustic Retreat stamp set.  I chose to make this one a birthday card.  It would work for many different occasions.  You could add color to the cabin and deer with watercolor pencils, aquapainters, blender pens, or markers.  Or you could  choose to stamp have a more monochromatic card and leave the images uncolored.  Which do you prefer?

And now we are finally to card 3, the video meant for this third week of September.  Again, I made some changes from my original design using a Night of Navy card base to help inspire the thought of a starry night and their are no stamped branches.  Which do you prefer?

Slothful Seasons Greetings

Do you ever find yourself feeling like this sloth?  Maybe you have an injury like he does and just can't move around like you usually do?   Maybe you don't have a visible external injury, but you just don't have the energy to move.  I definitely have days like that.  I think I identify with this sloth more than any other stamp right now.  I find myself asking what's going on as I don't even have the energy to raise my arm.

And you know what, that's OK.  Whether you physically touch gleaming decorations as you prepare to celebrate or just enjoy those you can see from your place on the branch (or couch) that others have placed in celebration, that's OK.  You are still seeing the beauty and celebrating the miracle of the season.  Whether you can place the sparkling decorations in your outside environment or not, you can definitely focus on that sparkle in your heart.  Focus on that!

Does the holiday knock you off your feet?

Does the holiday season knock you off your feet? Does it leave you flat on your back? Do you know someone who has that experience?

My goal is not to let the  business of the season keep me from enjoying the and celebrating the Reason for the Season.  But, I know the reality of the business and hub bub of all that is involved may try to knock me off my feet and steal my joy.  Instead of seeing stocking hung by the mantel with care . . .I may experience the overwhelming feeling of stockings or other decorations flung carelessly everywhere.  It may seem early to be thinking of this and planning how to celebrate Christmas with peace, love, and joy, but the truth is if I don't make some plans now, December will sneak up on me and I'll feel like I've been knocked off my feet.

Don't let that happen to you.  Let's make plans now so we can enjoy December with peace, love, and joy.
