Video: December Online Class Featuring Beautiful Blizzard Stamp Set--Week 2

Have you ever looked at the negative image left after you cut out some dies with your Big Shot and thought it should be used for something?  Have you ever wondered how to use it?  Well, here is one idea for you.  Using the Big Shot and Blizzard Thinlits, leaves this amazing negative behind.  Cutting it to fit on a card front and then adding a strip of Very Vanilla with the sentiment and a bow of velvet ribbon is a perfect way to use your negative.  Use any color of cardstock you want behind the glimmer paper to change the look of your card and highlight your favorite color or the favorite color of the card recipient.

Use the snowflake stamps to create a blizzard inside the card with the sentiment comparing snowflakes to hugs.  :)

Star Congratulations

Stars shine in the night, catch our interest as we stare at them trying to see constellations, keep us grounded, help guide our way, encourage wishing and dreaming, and provide sparkle.  A child can provide much of the same: sparkle and shine, help us keep wishing and dreaming, keep us grounded, influence our decisions that guide our lives, and catch our interest as we watch them to see what patterns will emerge in their lives.  Our children are the stars that brighten our days.

This card was inspired by the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch #300 and colors from TGIF challenge #189.  I thought the three challenge colors would look great with the three-step Congratulations stamp.  I'm sure glad I had the Stamparatus to help me line up the different stamps; I just don't think I could rely on my own double vision or shaky hands to make that happen.  The sentiment is a bit longer than the card
(4 1/2") I thought about creating the card landscape style so the sentiment wouldn't overhang the card, but I decided to leave it portrait orientation.  The sentiment strip is raised with dimensionals so it really stands out and makes a statement.

Making Everyday Bright Christmas

Christmas lights--One of my favorite parts of this season.  Almost every neighborhood we drive down after dark has at least one house with beautiful Christmas lights sparkling and shining in the dark.  I have used the Making Christmas Bright stamp set many times when creating Christmas cards this season.  I never really expected to find Christmas bulb stamps in the Making Everyday Bright stamp set, but here they are.  Making Everyday Bright really does mean EVERYDAY--all four seasons, Christmas included.

The Christmas bulbs on the All Is Bright DSP are in the colors of the Paper Players Colour Challenge this week:  Real Red and Shaded Spruce.  There are also bulbs in Whisper White and all the bulbs have gold ends.  The color of my choice is Sahara Sand which I used for the ends of the bulbs.  Shining bulbs in red, green, and white scream Christmas to me.

Valentine Sneak Peek

This week's sketch from Paper Craft Crew inspired me to use the products from the All My Love Suite and create a Valentine with a little sneak peek of products coming in the 2019 Occasions catalog.  One might think if I've moved on to Valentines that I'm finished with Christmas cards.  Well, that would not be true.  But, I thought it might be a nice refreshing change to take a break from the Christmas programming for awhile.  I fussy cut these hearts from the DSP, but I think the Be Mine Stitched Framelits coordinate with this DSP as well if you'd rather use a Big Shot.

Starry Night--NOT by Van Gogh

My favorite painting is Van Gogh's Starry Night.  And, although I know this looks nothing like it, after this card was created Starry Night is all I could think of.  So, that is what I am calling it--Starry Night--NOT Van Gogh's.  The main star on this card is the Christmas Star, or "the Light of Heaven."  I added sparkle to the star with Sink of Stella and a shining rhinestone in the center.  I added to my starry background with Gorgeous Grape Glimmer Dots and some extra stars stamped on both the DSP and cardstock.

This card was inspired by both the color challenge for CAS Colours & Sketches 301 and the Sketch from Freshly Made Sketches 366.  However, I didn't get the card made or blog post done in time to enter in those challenges.  I'm still working on balancing my schedule to get all family and personal responsibilities done well as well as balancing in person events with online posting.  My team party was today, so my blog post didn't quite get done in time.  I'll keep working on balancing and scheduling and maybe it will all come together someday.  I think I'll make that my 2019 New Year's Resolution.

I did manage to make it to WWC199 in time.  Make sure you head over to the challenge to see the inspiration cards by the design team and other creative entries.

Here is a pic of Van Gogh's Starry Night.  Does this card bring that picture to your mind at all?

Video: December Online Class Featuring Beautiful Blizzard Stamp Set--Week 1

Believe it or not we're already in December and a new month means it's time for a new featured stamp set.  This month we're featuring Beautiful Blizzard.  As I was preparing the class kits for this month, I was noticing the ache in my bones and joints. That's a sure sign that weather is on it's way.  The only blizzard I found today was the one inside my house--on my table, floor, and even on my wheelchair cushion when I transferred out of the chair later.  That's the kind of blizzard I can handle--dry beautiful snowflakes made of gold, silver, and copper foil as well as white velvet and sparkle glimmer paper.  I would take that kind of blizzard any day.

This card features a copper snowflake.  To see projects featuring the rest of the blizzard, keep following this blog.

The Year End Sale Is Here!!!

The Year-End Closeout has arrived.  This includes retiring products from the 2018 Holiday Catalog as well as surplus items from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.  The Sale runs from December 5-January 2, but All items are limited quantity.  When the retiring items sell out, they will be discontinued.  When the surplus items limited number sells at the discounted price, they will only be available at regular price.  If you see something on the sale that you love, it might be better to order NOW or risk it disappearing--possibly forever.

This is an excellent time to stock up on your paper crafting needs for Christmas cards or gift packaging.  It is also a great time to purchase some gifts for your crafting friends.

One of my favorite gift ideas on sale is the Christmas Traditions Punch Box.  It comes with a stamp block, fun stamp set, two ink spots, and a great label punch.  If you wanted to add some cardstock or notecards and envelopes set, you'd be gifting  a ready to make card kit box.  Plus did you see the adorable tin it comes packaged in.  It wouldn't even need any extra wrapping paper.

You could also grab the Red Distressed Card Tin and use it as your gift wrapping for any package.  You could even fill it with handmade cards you've made yourself.

If you have someone on your gift list that is looking for some elegant embellishments to add to a paper project, check out the Share What You Love Embellishment Kit.

If you're just drooling over everything you see and would love to find it under your tree this year, I'd be happy to help someone play elf for you.  Just give them your wish list or you message me your list yourself and then have them contact me.  I also have gift certificate available that can be purchased in any amount and will come with a handcrafted card.

Orders coming from Stampin' Up! must be ordered by December 13 to arrive before Christmas.  Gift certificates from me must be ordered by December 17 if they are to be mailed (US addresses only) or can be picked up in person through December 24.

Enjoy a parade of projects I've made using some of the year-end closeout items
