Be Sweet Like a Pineapple for FMS319

There has been a saying going around for the last few years that I absolutely love.  "Be a pineapple:  Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside."  The minute I saw the pineapple Tutti Frutti DSP, I knew I had to feature it with the sentiment from the Fruit Bundle stamp set which says, "You Are the Sweetest."

Those itty bitty fruit punches are absolutely adorable.  Check out the cute little pineapple right beside the sentiment.  The fruit part of the pineapple is about the same size as the sequin right beside it.  I can't get over how cute and little it is.  :)

I searched the Internet for the origin of the "Be a pineapple" quote and although it's quite difficult to trace it back to its origin, I wanted to try.  I like to give credit when I can because it is someone else's intellectual property.  I'm not sure if I'm passing on accurate information here, but it's possible this quote came from Kat Gaskin.  All I am 100% sure of is that it did not come from me and I love it and live it and want to give credit where credit is due.

Global Design Project 120 | CAS(E) the Designer

I really love the layers on this card and the fact that adding so many different types of layers adds so much interest.
It was a lot of fun trying out different elements to see which would create the mood I was going for. I decided to use the Tutti Frutti DSP with berries on it.  I found strawberries,  blueberries, and raspberries.

The Eastern Medallion thinlits made creative layers with the Tuttti Frutti DSP.  I used coordinating cardstock strips and gold thread to add more interest.
Which is your favorite berry?  Is it represented on this card or is it a totally different berry?   All three berries represented on this card are often found in my house, along with blackberries

Video: Online Card Class Featuring Colorful Seasons Stamp Set--Week 2

It is Thursday and time for another Facebook LIVE video.  This month we are featuring the Colorful Seasons stamp set and really the whole Color Theory Suite.  Somehow, the weather is not following my schedule for the seasons this month.  Today, we were focusing on the fall themed card, and I looked out the window to snow this morning.  You may think it's completely unthinkable that the real current weather could make the cards this month since we're featuring a different season each week.  Well, if you are thinking that, you've not experienced Kansas weather.  :)  For example, yesterday was over 60 degrees F and sunny here.  This morning was first rain, then snow and ice as the temperature kept dropping.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.  The weather and I just aren't coordinated this week.

Watch the online class video below.  I will see you next week as we make a card for summer.  We'll see if the weather and I are on the same page.

TGIFC141 The Color of Snow

As I looked out the window to snow falling, it reminded me of the color combination of TGIFC141.  Suddenly, I knew just what I had to create for this challenge.  I used the colors from the challenge together in the baby wipe technique and the snowflakes from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set.

The colors from the challenge did a great job capturing the colors of the scene outside my window, but they didn't capture the sparkle.  So, I tried to add a little sparkle to my creation with rhinestones, wink of stella, and silver heat embossing.  I think it caught just a glimpse of shine.

Beautiful Peacock PCC274

I think the Beautiful Peacock is my favorite from the Sale-a-bration items this year (at least for now).  It was the first thing I gravitated to and one I frequently think of when I see challenges.  I immediately thought of it when I saw the sketch for PCC274.  I was also inspired by Kim Oliver's use of Brusho with the peacock stamp and decided I wanted to try something similar with the Aquapainter.  Check out Kim's card here.

I think the emboss resist technique makes for striking images.  And I think anything with Lemon Lime Twist is going to catch your attention.  I just had to use more of the tail feather swirls on the inside of the card.  I think this stamp may just be in competition with the Star of Light swirl for my favorite Stampin' Up! stamp at the moment.  I guess I have a thing for swirls.  :)  I'm not sure if you can tell from the photo, but the detail on the tiny flower stamped on the card interior is amazing.

When I'm home for the holidays I create

You might not look at this card and automatically think "Home for the Holidays."  But, I do.  This is an amazing representation of what "home for the Holidays" means to me.  I took crafting supplies with me when I left me home and headed to my parents.  For me, it is easier to create without dust bunnies calling from under the couch or dishes calling from the kitchen.  And, while some my think this would isolate me from family, I find other family members sit with me at the table while I'm working and we have great conversations.  It also gives me a chance to do some creating with my niece.  :)

So, that is how crafting reminds me of going "Home for the Holidays" to my childhood home.  Then, when I am "Home for the Holidays" at my own home, crafting is still happening while I try to silence the cries of the dust bunnies or dishes so I can enjoy some creative time during my "break"

For this project, I chose to play with the new Painted with Love Specialty DSP from the Occasions catalog.  I chose the coordinating colors out of that DSP as I created this card.  The stamped strip is longer than the sketch, but if you look closely, you can a thinner strip of Power Pink cardstock peeking out behind it.
