Video: June Online Class Featuring It Starts With Art stamp set--week 4

Believe it or not we are already at the end of June and this is the fourth card featuring the It Starts with Art stamp set. I did not actually spend as much time this month exploring the idea that Following Your Art is good for your soul and leads to a happier, healthier, more productive you.

So, even though it is time to move on to our next featured stamp set--Back on Your Feet, this stamp set is not going into hiding.  Expect to see more of it as I continue to explore the positive impact of art in our lives.

Video: June Online Class Featuring It Starts With Art stamp set--week 3

 It was time to make a Christmas card with the featured stamp set of the month.  One thing I love about Christmas is seeing all the sparkles all around, so that seemed an appropriate sentiment for making a Christmas card with this stamp set.

The touches of gold add just the right amount of sparkle to this card.  When I found some retired Washi Tape with gold stars, I knew a star sequin would be the perfect finishing touch.

I must begin this post with an apology.  I'm sorry I have been absent from this blog so much lately  I'm sorry I have not been posting new creations on a regular basis.

I have learned a few things about myself lately.

• I tend to get fixated on one subject and focus on it at the exclusion of everything else
• I cannot work in a disorganized space--it may look messy to you no matter what, but I at least need to know where everything is
• Everything takes me much longer to complete than I think it will
• I get overwhelmed with too much of anything and need to be able to slow down and focus on one new, exciting thing at a time
• Too much creative excitement and newness causes my creative brain to shut down much like too much action in movies causes me to fall asleep.   Overload = Shut down
• Once a space is cleaned off and I start crafting, creativity, peace, and joy come flooding back

The good news is now that I've identified what causes the shut down or feeling like I've lost my mojo, I can do something to prevent or correct it.  :)

What causes a shut down for you?

This week's card uses a design from a challenge in April.  Both cards used a Coastal Cabana card base along with Follow Your Art DSP.  Both use the spools of ribbon stamp with paper piecing of the ribbons.  The sparkle is added with wink of stella and Glittered Enamel Dots.

Video: June Online Class Featuring It Starts With Art stamp set--week 1

Welcome to the first week of a new month, which means a new featured stamp set for my Facebook LIVE online class.  This week is also the launch of the new 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog, so I have been busy this week on my Facebook page with a new catalog launch, which has limited the amount of time I've been creating and posting those creations here.  But, I can tell you the combination of limited time to craft along with the reading of Ecclesiastes this week has me kind of down and feeling like "everything is meaningless."  I know that is not true and I also know I should be doing more creating and focusing on positivity as I move forward.  So, that is the plan for the future  I started today by taping the creation of this card and I've already felt the peace and joy that comes when I am creating and have my hands on paper, stamps, and ink.  The name of this month's featured stamp set couldn't be more perfect . . .

It Starts With Art

During the video I promised you would get a chance to see the finished interior here.  So, here it is.  After I had it finished and glued inside the card, I thought it would be perfect to use the Aquapainter to add a watercolor wash to the card interior.  If you get a chance to try that, please send me pictures of your amazing finished projects.  I also added a felt heart post video to the front of the card.  I thought it was the perfect finishing touch.

Club commitment:

Stamp Club

• The club will run throughout the life of the annual catalog--June 2019-May 2020
• The club will meet six times per year--on the odd months: July, September, November, January, March, May
• The club will meet from 9-11:30am on the second or third Saturday of each club month
