Video: May Online Class Featuring Needle & Thread Week 5 BONUS Project

Do you ever want to liven up your crafting with something a little unexpected?

That is what I was looking for this week  Once the idea came to me I have to admit I got a little excited to see it come together.  The card portion is a 3" x 4" card.  But, a smaller card in a smaller envelope doesn't hold the element of surprise.  But, a smaller card adhered to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of cardstock can fit in a standard Stampin' Up! envelope.  And when you open it, surprise!!!  a smaller card attached to the cardstock.

Plus, adding the extra card base gave me an opportunity to add the stitched floral element.  The stamped stitched element on the inside of the card finishes the look.

Gratitude While Letting Go

When using the Konmari method of decluttering, Marie Kondo recommends thanking items for the service before letting them go.  So today, I've been doing a lot of thanking items as I prepare for their retirement next week.  I'll be getting ready for a retired item sale so you'll have to watch and see which items I can let go of completely and which just move to another part of my work area and continue to see some use. :)

We had a class featuring retiring stamp sets today, but unfortunately I did not get any pictures.  Some of the products we used today are among those being discounted starting at 12pm MT May 30, 2019.  Stampin' Up! just revealed that they will be discounting some last chance products up to 30% and some of them just happen to be products we used in class today or you've seen me use on this blog or in my online classes

With this card I say good-bye to:

Celebrate You Dies
Thank you for your service.

Avid Card for Spring

This was a crazy week around here.  It's the end of the school year for my kiddos which means I now have TWO high school students--a Freshman and a SENIOR!!!!  How is that possible?  I still remember their baby days like it was only yesterday.  The first email came from the school talking about my Senior and all that is coming during this next--her last--year of high school.  I might have freaked out just a little bit.  :)

When thinking about a spring theme for the SUO Challenge this week, I couldn't help but think about Prom and be inspired by the gorgeous corsages of my daughter and her friends.  What better way to celebrate PROM than to spend the evening with a bunch of your friends and all have matching corsages to commemorate the evening.
I think this card is the Avid level card of a design I created earlier this year.  For this card, I added a soft sea foam layer embossed with the layering leaves embossing folder  The roses were also cut out with dies before being glued on the sea foam green layer.  The strip across the front of the card also has two elements with a piece of Petal Pink to match the card base and a sneak peek of the scalloped lace trim coming in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog  The flower centers and sentiment label were finished with pearls.

Video: May Online Class Featuring Needle & Thread Week 4

I am ready to see live butterflies flying around my yard.  All I see when I look out the window is rain pouring from the sky.  There aren't even butterflies in the botanical gardens butterfly pavilion area yet.  Although I did see one on a flower outside the butterfly pavilion door :)  I think it was enjoying teasing us.  I might have even heard it taunting us.  :)  Maybe that was just my imagination.

I don't think I'm going to be lucky enough to see them in nature quite yet  So, while I'm dreaming of butterflies, I'll create a kaleidoscope of butterflies on a card.  Did you know that is what a group of butterflies is called? A kaleidoscope?  It seems like a perfect description to me.

I enjoy seeing butterflies in a multitude of colors, but the butterflies I chose to create today are in shades of blue--Night of Navy and Balmy Blue with accents of white or vanilla    They even flew onto the interior of the card.

When you see butterflies this year think of them bringing your happiness and love.  I hope you see your own kaleidoscope  of butterflies multiple times this year and are always reminded they are bringing happiness and love.
