How Do You Get Gorgeous Colors on Your Card Using Scissors??

  • Have you gotten into the adult coloring book trend?
  • Do you love using colored pencils or markers or even crayons to create gorgeous colored in images?
  • Do you love how it relaxes you but don't want to share your coloring with others?
  • Does coloring just frustrate you instead of create relaxation?
  • Would you rather someone else do all the necessary coloring for your card?
This card has some gorgeous colored butterflies, but I didn't color them  All I had to do was use my scissors to cut out images that were already beautiful and ready for me to use.

The Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper provides options for gorgeous colored butterflies whether you want to color them in yourself using markers or watercolor pencils or use your scissors to cut out ones that are already beautifully colored and match the black and white sizes on a black and white pattern.  Or, you could even use them for color inspiration when coloring in your own butterfly.

No matter your choice of tool, you can have beautiful coloring, whether using pencils, markers, or just your scissors to cut out those already done,

The card was inspired by the sketch from PP430 and the theme from #tgifc200.  Make sure you head over to the challenges to see the inspiration cards from the design teams and other creative entries,

Need a Quick Card for a Star? #simplestamping

Twinkle, Twinkle.   Need a card for a star in your life?  Is there a new little star joining your circle soon?  Is there someone who is shining brightly like a star and needs a card to celebrate them?  Do you need a card quickly?  Here is a #simplestamping  card fit for a star.  All you need is a Whisper White card base, stamps, ink, and a couple strips of Designer Series Paper and a few minutes of your time and you will have a fun card to celebrate the star in your life.

The colors for the Inspire.Create Challenge 037 didn't scream baby card or stars to me at first, but that is where I ended up with this card.  The DSP strips are Pool Party; the stars are stamped in Pool Party and Daffodil Delight; and the sentiment is stamped with Mint Macaron.  I guess it doesn't have to scream baby card--It could be for any star in your life,
If you are looking for a way to celebrate the stars in your life, here is a simple card to help you do just that.

I've entered this card the the sketch challenge for CTS310 and color \challenge Inspire.Create 037.  Make sure you head over to the challenges to see the inspiration cards by the design teams and other creative entries.

Kangaroo Christmas

Merry Christmas to you.  I know it will be March this week, but it is never too early to start making Christmas cards for next year  And, I still have a stash of supplies from last Christmas that I haven't used up yet and it feels like Christmas outside my door.  I don't have snowflakes today, but I know lots of people who are still dealing with the after effects of the Polar Vortex and there is more snow forecast for this week and next  So, I guess snowflakes are still appropriate even though it is almost March.

This card was inspired by the sketch for PCC327  I used the Eastern Medallion thinlit and Petals & More Thinlits die with the Big Shot Embossing Mat to dry emboss a couple of the images directly on the card front.  I also used paper and stickers from the Santa's Workshop Memories and More pack to add some glittery bling to the card both inside and out.  The kangaroo is wearing a Santa's hat from the Santa's Workshop Memories More pack.  After I put it on her head, I realized I miss her ears.  I think it makes her look like she has an aardvark head.  What do you think?  Maybe I'll go back later and cut ear slits in the hat.

Symbols of joy, happiness, friendship, etc.

Seeing the the colors of CAS Challenge #309 brought to mind thoughts of spring, flowers, sunshine.  I am wishing those into my life right now and hoping that is what I will see out the window very soon.

I decided to do some research on the meaning of flowers.  And while it depends somewhat on the precise type of flower given, the most common meanings I was able to discover are:
  • Friendship
  • Happiness
  • Joy
  • Trust
  • Respect

Flowers can brighten your mood and bring a smile to your face.  But, if you live in an area where live flowers are not possible right now, or practical, or for health reasons you can't be around them, papercrafting flowers can still brighten your mood and bring a smile to your face.  Every time I see this bright and cheery card, I smile.  And, if you'd like to increase the positive effects, create a card to give to someone else to continue spreading friendship, happiness, joy . . .

When Someone Loves Natural Elements . . .

What do you do when you need a birthday card for someone who doesn't love bright colors or the traditional birthday images?  They don't even like cake?  You think outside the box a little.  When you need a birthday card for someone who loves all things nature, natural elements, and more neutral colors, you reach for those things.

When I finished this card, I was reminded of a horse stall.  I was thinking how perfect it would be to put a horse looking over the wood panel on the card front.  Well, I don't personally have a horse stamp  If you are in look of a horse stamp, Stampin' Up! has a great one in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  It is called Let it Ride.    If you already have it or a different horse stamp, I'd love to see a CASE of this card with a horse in the stable.  Please attach your picture in the comments.  To order your own Let it Ride stamp set, click on the link or on the picture below.

Video: February Online Class Featuring Wonderful Moments week 3

Week 3 is the week I try to use the featured stamp set of each month to make a Christmas card.   This month the Wonderful Moments stamp set.  So far, we've created  a birthday card, a wedding card, and this week--a Christmas card  Come back next week for a baby congratulations card.  That definitely covers four wonderful moments in our lives.  What are some other wonderful moments you've experienced and/or would like a card to celebrate?

This card is a similar design to week 1, this one uses three different DSP patterns at a diagonal across the card front, while the birthday card used one DSP pattern horizontal strip across the card front.  This shows me that designer series paper is a perfect way to add pattern and interest to your card as well as establish a theme and tone for your card
Check out week 1 card here.

Mother's Day Roses

Mother's Day and roses always seem to go together for me.  Somehow, delicate pink roses remind me of both my grandmothers and seem appropriate for a Mother's Day card  As I sat down to create this card, I realized it would fit into the Casual stamper category.  That seems to probably be the type of card I am drawn to most often.  I find myself using all three, but the casual card most of the time.

I stamped these roses on a Very Vanilla layer and then colored them in using ink pads and blender pens  I added a ribbon and bow along with some pearls for an added touch of elegance and punched out the sentiment with the Elegant Label Punch and used dimensionals to adhere the label to the ribbon and the card front to the card base.

I then made a #simplestamping card using the same design.  This time it was only using Basic Grey and Grey Granite on the Petal Pink card base to create the same soft pink roses with the same sentiment.

The card for the Avid Stamper will be coming, but Avid cards take a little bit more time to create.  Keep watching this blog for the third level of stamping to show up soon.

Video: February Online Class Featuring Wonderful Moments week 2

This Facebook Live Class was held on Valentine's Day.  It is not officially a Valentine's Day card, but it is a card that represents love.  It represents romance, softness, and elegance  It represents a bride dressed her very best, dreaming in anticipation of the moment her life will change forever,; she will change from  Miss to Mrs, from single woman to wife, beginning her family with her love, and maybe even changing her last name before the end of the day

The Tufted Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder adds a feeling of elegance and the pearls added to the tufts adds a touch of elegance.  The watercolor wash in Blushing Bride creates more of a stark contrast with the pure white of the bride's gown.

Check out the video tutorial  for this card:
