Welcome Back Apples

September means fall. It means schools are in session all over the country.  September means that apples become the fresh produce in season when you head to the grocery store. It can also mean apple picking trips to apple orchards.  There are so many different types of apples out there and variations of colors--yellow, red, green, pink and different shades of each.  What is your favorite type of apple?  I tend to lean toward Jonagold for snacking and Red Delicious for baking.  I'm pretending I have representatives of Red Delicious, Gold Delicious, and Granny Apple on the above card.  The apple builder punch makes it so easy to add beautifully punched out apples (or pumpkins).

Gold for Christmas

The touches of gold in this Designer Series Paper is really what inspired the rest of this card.  I just couldn't leave that little bit of shimmer in the plaid paper be the only touch of gold.  So, I added a gold foil bulb tied with a golden bow and some gold metallic pearls for a finishing touch.  To me the touches of gold seem to elevate the card and help make you aware of the importance of the season.

Thinking of You With Sympathy

This week we lost a pretty amazing man in our family.  A couple of weeks ago, my Great Uncle Henry celebrated his 105th birthday.  This week, we are celebrating his life at his funeral.  The sadness we feel is not for him, it's for us.  We will miss his wisdom, spunk, and humor desperately.  The sympathy cards are for those of us whose lives he touched and changed forever.  It's not often we get to celebrate someone who lived over a century and experience the changes in the world around him over more than 100 years.  Tomorrow, we will do just that.  Thank you Uncle Henry for the lessons you taught us and may we pass them on to the next generation.

This card was inspired by the colors for this week's CAS Challenge.  The cabin and deer were colored in using a Soft Suede ink pad and Blender pens. /A pumpkin pie watercolor pencil was used for the window trim and pumpkins.  The trees and grass were colored with the Garden Green Watercolor Pencil.  My favorite quote from AA Milne is stamped on the inside of this card: "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and loved more than you know."

Crisp, Clear Winter Night

 Stars sparkling in the deep blue night sky.  A bear choosing to forgo his winter nap for the chance to celebrate Christmas.  Evergreen branches rustling in the wind and brushing the side of the bear as he walks by.    I think of clear sky, brisk wind, and nothing but the sound of nature.  What do these images make you think about?

Adding Color

I've been spending time today playing with the Celebrate with Cake stamp set using the colors that come with the Bundle--Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green.  As I looked at the colors for the FabFri challenge, I couldn't help but imagine them used with this stamp set.  So, that is what we have--the challenge colors used with the Celebrate with Cake stamp set.

I would consider this a #simplestamping card I think--it just uses stamps, ink, and paper with a couple enamel dots thrown on for interest.

#simplestamping or Stepped Up--Let's Celebrate with Cake

 What do you think of if you walk into a room and see a cake (with or without candles) and a banner.  I think it's time for a celebration.  It could be somebody's birthday, bridal or baby shower, graduation or retirement celebration, or just recognition of a good day.  Whatever it is--it's time to party!!!

This #simplestamping card was created using only stamps ink and paper.  I chose to use the Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green because those are the ink colors included in the Celebrate with Cake bundle.  Although you can order all the elements separately--just by the stamp set alone for instance--Stampin' Up! has made creating even easier for you.  You can purchase the Celebrate with Cake bundle together and have everything you need to get started making some cards for all the celebrations in your life.

Of course,  you can always add additional products to your card.

This stepped up version of the design adds a strip of Designer Series Paper as well as cutting out the cake and banner and adding them back to the front of the card with dimensionals. The die in Flirty Flamingo adds just a touch of fun and helps make it look like the cake is sitting on the edge of a pretty tablecloth.

Inspired by Colors and Fibers

The minute I saw the inspiration photo for this week's Just Add Ink challenge, I knew I had to play along.  That color palette is my absolute favorite and inspires creativity, peace, and relaxation on a regular basis.  I decided to us the spool of thread stamp from Crafting Forever and stamp 5 different spools and color them each a color representing one of the skeins of yarn from the inspiration photo.  After I had done that and mounted them with dimensionals to the designer paper from Perennial Essence, they began to spark my imagination.  I can now see them as colorful sea creatures swimming through the ocean; OR aliens flying through the cosmos; OR elements of artistic inspiration floating through rich colors waiting to create the next masterpiece.
