Slothful Seasons Greetings

Do you ever find yourself feeling like this sloth?  Maybe you have an injury like he does and just can't move around like you usually do?   Maybe you don't have a visible external injury, but you just don't have the energy to move.  I definitely have days like that.  I think I identify with this sloth more than any other stamp right now.  I find myself asking what's going on as I don't even have the energy to raise my arm.

And you know what, that's OK.  Whether you physically touch gleaming decorations as you prepare to celebrate or just enjoy those you can see from your place on the branch (or couch) that others have placed in celebration, that's OK.  You are still seeing the beauty and celebrating the miracle of the season.  Whether you can place the sparkling decorations in your outside environment or not, you can definitely focus on that sparkle in your heart.  Focus on that!

Does the holiday knock you off your feet?

Does the holiday season knock you off your feet? Does it leave you flat on your back? Do you know someone who has that experience?

My goal is not to let the  business of the season keep me from enjoying the and celebrating the Reason for the Season.  But, I know the reality of the business and hub bub of all that is involved may try to knock me off my feet and steal my joy.  Instead of seeing stocking hung by the mantel with care . . .I may experience the overwhelming feeling of stockings or other decorations flung carelessly everywhere.  It may seem early to be thinking of this and planning how to celebrate Christmas with peace, love, and joy, but the truth is if I don't make some plans now, December will sneak up on me and I'll feel like I've been knocked off my feet.

Don't let that happen to you.  Let's make plans now so we can enjoy December with peace, love, and joy.

Hogs and Kisses

I've always thought Rococo Rose would make a good color for a pig.  I think it does. :)  It is also perfect for hearts.  The acrylic hearts are colored with a Dark Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Blend, but to me they look more like a shade in between Rococo Rose and Blackberry Bliss.  I'm not entirely sure what the stamp of the three small images is, I'm thinking maybe lip prints?  Can someone help me out?   Whatever they are they seemed perfect for this "Hogs & Kisses" card.

Warning Raven #simplestamping

One of my favorite stamp sets out of the Holiday Catalog is The Raven.  Partly because I've always loved Poe's poem.  Partly because I love DistINKtive stamps and the texture they create after stamping the image once with no additional technique needed.  Partly because although this is a Halloween stamp set and has a Halloween specific sentiment, I can see so many other uses for it.  For example, I see this as a potential birthday card. Partly because I see this as a #simplestamping card.  It only uses stamps, ink, and paper and I don't feel like it needs anything else. I feel like it is complete as is.

This stamp set is perfect for Halloween, anyone who loves "The Raven" or other Poe writings, or if you are looking for a stamp set that is subtly spooky.  If you are an English teacher who includes "The Raven" in your curriculum, this is a must have.  Imagine if you will, this spooky raven telling students to beware at the top of their tests.  How fun is that?

Welcome Back Apples

September means fall. It means schools are in session all over the country.  September means that apples become the fresh produce in season when you head to the grocery store. It can also mean apple picking trips to apple orchards.  There are so many different types of apples out there and variations of colors--yellow, red, green, pink and different shades of each.  What is your favorite type of apple?  I tend to lean toward Jonagold for snacking and Red Delicious for baking.  I'm pretending I have representatives of Red Delicious, Gold Delicious, and Granny Apple on the above card.  The apple builder punch makes it so easy to add beautifully punched out apples (or pumpkins).

Gold for Christmas

The touches of gold in this Designer Series Paper is really what inspired the rest of this card.  I just couldn't leave that little bit of shimmer in the plaid paper be the only touch of gold.  So, I added a gold foil bulb tied with a golden bow and some gold metallic pearls for a finishing touch.  To me the touches of gold seem to elevate the card and help make you aware of the importance of the season.
