Video: March online class featuring Animal Outing Week 1

Today has been a peek of spring around here.  That made creating with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder easier to reconcile  It was a bit difficult for me to create anything representing green, growing leaves while all I was seeing was ice and snow.  Not to mention the bitter cold and it's impact on my bones and joints.  In fact, for me, it was becoming difficult to create anything.  More days than not, my body has been impacted by weather lately and my creativity follows suit

What about you?  Are there things you know are going to make it harder to create?  Do you have times when it's all you can do to crawl out of bed?  Are there days you can't even get out of bed?  Me too.

What do you do when you don't feel like creating?  What if you physically can't?  You do what you can.  You rest when you must.  You make adaptations when necessary.  If you don't have a creative idea in your head, you just start playing with your creative materials and see what happens..  On the days all you can do is look at other creations and dream, that is what you do.  And, then you see what the next day brings.  One day when you wake up it will be warmer, sunnier, and spring will have arrived.  In the meantime you can always look at this rhino and smile.

Need some hope and joy? Create it

Do you have spring fever?
What do you think of when you think of spring?

I think there is a little bit of spring fever happening around here.  Today the high temperature was 50-something degrees Fahrenheit, but it totally felt like spring to me.  :)  I spent some time in the sunshine and went to the store in a short sleeve t-shirt with no coat.   Spring may not be officially here yet, but experiencing a day of sunshine with almost all the snow melted away without having to be bundled from head to toe makes my spring fever even worse.  I am ready for flowers and butterflies

Spring may not be here yet and it may not be where you are, but you can still dream and create spring no matter what it is doing outside  The colors of FabFri158 were perfect for my card dreaming of spring.

This week is also the beginning of Lent--the 40 day period leading to Easter.  As Lent is the anticipation of Easter, his card is about the anticipation of the arrival of spring.  Both bring hope and joy.

Creating a card that expresses feelings of hope and joy can lead to feeling more hope and joy yourself.

Have Spring Fever?  Want some of the hope and joy spring can bring?  Spend time creating something to bring hope and joy to others.  You can't help but catch a little yourself.

Make sure you head over to FabFri158 and PP431 to see the inspiration cards by the design team and other creative entries.

Create with What You Loved as a Child

It never ceases to amaze me how you can use the same stamps, ink, and paper and come up with three different designs that are three different levels of difficulty.  This time around I chose to use purple and Gingham Gala DSP because they make me smile every time I use them.  Using colors and items you love when you are creating cause happiness and relaxation no matter what else has filled your day.

Growing up, I anxiously awaited the next Ginghams paper doll.  I would spend hours setting up their boxes and various scenes creating a Gingham village filled with these fun dolls.  Then, I would lose myself for hours making up stories as they visited each other and lived their perfect lives.  I can't even count how many hours I spent playing with my Gingham paper dolls and dragging my friends into my imaginary world right along with me.

The Ginghams did not have one who featured purple, but purple is my favorite color, so that is the color I'm creating with today.

Here are the three different levels of stamping
Simple stamping sympathy card using just stamps, ink,
paper, and an added bow.
Casual stamping card adding DSP and a stamped white
layer on a colored card base.

The Avid Card adding an additional embossed layer
of cardstock with a circle window cut out for the lily
and the sentiment punched out and adhered with dimensionals.

The avid card was inspired by the sketch from Global Design Project 178.

The happy hours spent playing with my Gingham paper dolls was recaptured a bit when creating cards with  Gingham Gala DSP and using my imagination with my paper crafts.  Creating with materials that remind you of a pleasant memory, can create positivity and a whole new arsenal of pleasant memories.

Check out the inspiration cards by the design teams and other creative entries for the challenges.

Video: February Online Class Featuring Wonderful Moments Week 4

When I designed this card and scheduled the video tutorial for this week, I never imagine it would be an appropriate card for me to feature on Ms. Wheelchair Kansas weekend.  When you look at this card, do your thoughts instantly go to Ms. Wheelchair Kansas?

Why do you think I am connecting this card with Ms. Wheelchair Kansas?

  • Stars of  different shapes and sizes are shining brightly on the card front.  Ms. Wheelchair Kansas weekend brings together shining "stars" or wheelchair using women and girls of different shapes and size
  • Both represent a moment of anticipation
  • Both represent expecting greatness
  • Both the card and Ms Wheelchair Kansas feature pink and blue
  • Both result in congratulations
  • The heart represents love on the card and there is also love in the Ms Wheelchair Kansas family.
  • The Ms. Wheelchair Kansas family continues to add new babies to our family.  :)
Check out the video tutorial here:

The arrival of Ms. Wheelchair Kansas and Little Miss Wheelchair Kansas weekend also brings the arrival of my annual fundraiser.  10% of all  orders placed with Angel Stamps (before tax and shipping) March 1-5 will be donated to the Little Miss Wheelchair organization.
