A Good First

Today was a first for me.  I had a booth at the Holiday Extravaganza at the El Dorado Civic Center in El Dorado, KS.  To be perfectly honest, the idea of any kind of vendor fair, craft show, etc. terrified me.  It wasn't until I heard Louise Sharp talk about her preparation for "markets" that I even began to think maybe some day I could be ready for that sort of event as well.  I signed up for the Holiday Extravaganza with faith that I might be prepared by the day it arrived.

Well, today was that day and I still wasn't sure if I was prepared.  I was more comfortable with my preparation when I heard Sam Hammond Donald confirm what I also believe to be true--"We sell product, not projects."  I did display my samples of my creations using our products, but I also had lots of catalogs out, and a FREE make and take ornament project for customers.  It was so much fun creating with them and seeing their excitement at being able to create something beautiful themselves.

All in all I'd say it was a success.  I met lots of new people, many who had no idea a Stampin' Up! demonstrator was available locally.  I had several take catalogs, information about upcoming classes, and make sure they had my contact information.  I think I gained a new Paper Pumpkin customer today and lots of new leads to follow up on.  Very exciting.  I'd say this was a win even if I did manage a skinned philtrum.  Look it up . . . who knew a falling sign could leave an injury there?

Spinning Rack and table with Card and Gift Packaging Samples

Catalogs and flyers for FREE information about Stampin' Up!

The table all set up for the make and takes.

I did not take specific stats on the ornaments, but the most used character was the reindeer, followed by Santa Clause.  The bear was not chosen for any ornaments.  The gingerbread man was even though there is no sample on the table (I thought it "walked away," but I found it on the card spinner later.)

I had a great "first," learned a lot, and will be less nervous and even more excited next time around.
