When I saw the theme for SUO Challenge 188 was Celebrate Winter Holidays, I knew immediately I didn't want to focus on Christmas. I'm not exactly sure why that is since I am making Christmas cards hand over fist around here trying to have as many to showcase as possible at the Holiday Extravaganza I am a part of next weekend. But, I decided to focus on a different winter holiday.
I won't have a Valentine's card in time since I was only able to preorder Valentine products in the Occasions catalog preorder today. So, I decided to focus on New Year's.
The Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper I used to create this card will be retiring January 2. So, if you love it and would like to use it for future celebratory cards, make sure you shop the year end sale. This is one of the items that will only be around as long as supplies last. So, if you love it, don't wait.
I stamped the swirl from the Star of Light stamp set in Basic Black and then fussy cut it out to attach to the cardfront with dimensionals. I used all four different foil sheets available and cut out stars with the BigShot and Starlight Thinlits. I attached them with dimensionals as well. I thought the addition of the swirl, stars, and dimension help accentuate the thought of fireworks or celebration.
Finally, the sentiment was stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink directly on gold foil and punched out with the Double Banner Punch.
