Global Design Project 079 | Theme Challenge

I didn't manage to get this week's Global Design Project finished until last minute yet once again.  But, I've been spending all week designing this project in my head.  When challenges are announced, I try to figure out something that will both fit the challenge and what I happen to be focusing on that week.  While that doesn't always work, it did this week.  I am focusing on Sale-a-bration items through the end of March.  When I think about the theme for this week, I immediately thought of food trucks.  One of my favorite parts of visiting fairs, carnivals, festivals, etc. is checking out all the amazing food truck availabilities.

Whenever we have visited an amusement park, so I wanted to create a card with multiple food truck options.  I had so much fun using different DSP, and coloring tools to create several different themed food trucks.  Which one do you like best?

March Card Class--Sale-a-bration Items

Tonight was my final class before Sale-a-bration ends and we got to play with Sale-a bration items.  I am always so impressed with every one's creativity at class; I always wish I could remember to take pics of all the cards.  I love how everyone interprets the same design a little differently and leave class with individual and equally beautiful cards.  However, I can't ever remember to take photos, so you just get to look at mine.

This design was inspired by Cynthia Millan's entry on the Thailand Achievers Blog Hop.  I decided on Sweet Sugarplum since it was the only color I had enough cardstock for class and the matching ink color.  We had so much fun using an embossing folder with the Big shot as well as the heat gun and embossing powder and the emboss resist sponging technique.

The next project was choosing a piece of In Between the Lines DSP for the front of a card and color in as much of it as you want.  You can choose to draw attention to any part of the design or choose to leave it all uncolored for the recipient to color in themselves.  We got to play with markers, watercolor pencils, and blender pens.

For our new technique card of the night, we got to try the Marbling technique together.  I had first tried it at home using my favorite cool colors: Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, and Garden Green.  After a couple of tries, I decided those colors were a bit too dark for what I had in mind.

So I switched to different colors: Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, and Sweet Sugarplum.  I love those colors together I made 11 cards with them and then decided those were the colors I would be using for class.  I also decided these would be my customer cards for the month unless you were at class tonight and made one for yourself.

Video: Work of Art Card Class #4

Today was the last online class featuring Work of Art stamp set.  Since March has 5 Thursdays, next week there will be a bonus video featuring Sale-a-bration items.  April will feature Sprinkles of Life  stamp set.  Let me know if you would like to RSVP for April class.  RSVPs are due by Friday, March 24.

Enjoy the video.  I'm not sure what's up with the sound on the video again.  I made a test video earlier this afternoon to test the sound and it worked just the way it should.  When I listened to the video on Facebook, the sound was choppy again.  I don't know what it sounded like LIVE.  If this continues to be a problem, I'll be looking for another way to post videos.  Stay tuned and I'll let you know if I change where to watch the weekly videos.

I ended up using both art pieces on two different cards.  I changed up the card base for the shamrock and rainbow art from and added an Emerald Green frame to accent the shamrock.

April Online Class: "Sprinkles of Life"

I would recommend investing in the Tree Builder Punch to make cutting out parts easier.  You will  be able to punch out clouds, birds, cupcake topper, ice cream, and raindrops for these cards.

My first team SWAP

I recently participated in my first team swap and I wanted to share the beautiful cards I received with all of you.  This first picture is of my contribution to the swap.  I know some people love making stacks of the same card, especially for things like swaps, but so far, I really prefer to make them a bit different.  So, I don't know who received which card, but I hope they were all appreciated and each one went to someone who needed that particular card.

Why I stamp

I had the amazing opportunity this weekend to share my latest adventure with some of my favorite people  This weekend was the Ms. Wheelchair Kansas 2017 weekend.  Part of our weekend experience has been something creative followed by a volunteer experience.  This year, we combined both with a card making experience.

Rather than have a class like I normally do where each participant gets the supplies needed to make pre-selected card designs, we decided as the Ms. Wheelchair Steering Committee to allow for a little more individual creativity.

I provided card fronts and insides already cut out and ready to be stamped on in either Very Vanilla, Whisper White, or In Between the Lines DSP.  I had cut cardstock in the right size for card bases in every color of the rainbow (plus a few colors not in the rainbow.)  Does anyone have suggestions for the best paper trimmer to cut multiple pieces of paper at once?  I brought all my ink color and stamp sets currently available in Stampin' Up catalogs. My team leader, Daveda, brought supplies I did not have and came to help this amazing group of women/girls stretch their creativity.  My mom came to help out as well.  Thanks ladies!!

I had just learned about an amazing opportunity here in Kansas to use our creativity for good.  Grace Card Ministry in Overbrook, Kansas collects homemade cards to send to those who need a little happy mail.  Those of us involved with the Ms. Wheelchair Kansas and Little Miss Wheelchair Kansas family were so happy to make cards to share not only with our loved ones and each other, but also with complete strangers who need to receive a smile in the mail.

Global Design Project 078 | Sketch Challenge

My favorite of all Global Design Challenges is probably the Sketch Challenge. I love using a sketch to inspire creativity when I'm making a card.  And, right now, I am needing cards for Ms. Wheelchair Kansas and Little Miss Wheelchair Kansas.  What better for this weekend than a puppy princess with a sparkling crown.  

Of course, pink is necessary both inside and out.
