SUO 189--Favorite Holiday Colors or Lack There Of

When I first saw the SUO challenge to create something using your favorite holiday colors, I thought I knew what those were.  When I looked back over the projects I have been working on this year, I was shocked to find out that my favorite holiday colors appear to be the absence of color.  My favorite holiday colors happen to be those "colors" you are allowed to add to any color challenge.  I have decided I love working with black and white and metallics,  My favorite metal at this point is silver.

I am working on gift packaging right now and wanted to try my hand at creating a custom gift  box for this challenge.  I created the bottom of the box in Basic Black cardstock and the top with the Merry Music DSP.  I do have to admit it took me a couple of tries since my measurements for the top of the box were a bit off the first time, but that's OK, it just means I ended up with TWO gorgeous boxes using the Merry Music Specialty DSP.

I had some silver ribbon from last year's Sale-a-bration that added the perfect touch of bling to this package.    I did add a touch of color to the gift tag.  I find I usually add a little red and/or green to my Christmas projects.  This time I used Real Red and Emerald Envy to add a pop of color in the holly leaves.  You'll notice there is no name on the package?  It's not quite time to give anyone a little sneak peek.  No sense in spoiling the surprise.  I think the packaging is as exciting as the gift inside sometimes.

Make sure you head over to SUO Challenges to check out the inspiration from the design team as well as the other creative entries.  Check out everyone's favorite holiday colors.

Here some photo proof that I tend to be using a lot of black and white and metallics with just a pop of color.

  4. Stunning package! Its funny sometimes how we don't even realize that we've been stuck on one or two colors or even a stamp set until we sit back and look at what we've been creating. Thanks so much for playing along on the SUO Challenge.

    1. Thanks Mary. Even if they get ripped open and not appreciated, I sure had so much fun making them and enjoying looking at them until they are given to their recipients. :)
