I love it when I can make one card and it can satisfy the requirements for more than one challenge plus maybe some other creative needs. This card was so much fun to create. I knew I wanted to play with the new Wood Words bundle and when I saw the Stampin' Up Only Challenge was a color challenge to create a card using the patriotic colors of your own country. This time of year leaves me feeling especially patriotic and wanting to create using red, white, and blue.
I designed the inside of the card first, and love the pop up element. I first saw the pop up box used in a card by Mitsou designs, but I only wanted to use one box and fill it with stars. I used the small cluster of stars stamp from the Wood Words stamp set to create a border at the top of the card of more gorgeous stars. When my daughter first saw the card, she thought it looked like a box of firecrackers. It most definitely could be.
But I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with the front of the card until I saw the sketch for FabFRi115. Then I knew this was the perfect way to add stripes to my patriotic card. This is my version of Stars and Stripes just in time to celebrate America's birthday
